Coleen Nolan and Brenda Edwards address 'feud' rumours on ITV's Loose Women

Coleen Nolan found herself taken aback when Brenda Edwards confessed that their occasional disagreements had led some people to believe they were locked in an intense feud.

During a majestic "prom" themed episode of ITV's Loose Women, Coleen, adorned in a sparkling navy dress with her hair elegantly styled, played host alongside co-stars Katie Piper, Brenda Edwards, and Frankie Bridge. The presenter initiated Wednesday's chat - a half-hour special due to horse racing - discussing the value of friendship, which led Brenda, 55, to reveal her appreciation for her "unlikely" bond with Coleen.

Inquiring about meaningful connections, Coleen asked: "What is your most significant friendship?" Brenda's response took the host back as she replied: "Unlikely, with you". Coleen, quipped back: "Well, I don't know where that's coming from."

Brenda elaborated, explaining fans' misconceptions about their relationship as she added "A lot of people come to me and they keep saying 'so are you really friends with Coleen?".

With a hint of humour, Brenda noted: "I think they think I'm so serious and you're so funny so we can't mix".

Coleen, with a smirk and a sip from her mug, replied, "Are you serious? Well, that's where they're going wrong", reports the Mirror.

The duo laid any unfounded rumours to rest, with Brenda expressing, "It surprises me when people say that because I think you're lovely." To which Coleen warmly responded, "We have got a really good friendship."

While Coleen and Brenda remain friends, there has been plenty of buzz surrounding internal conflict on the Loose Women set, with talk of backstage spats.

Kaye Adams, who took a hiatus from the show for health reasons, once spoke to Metro.co.uk about some instances where tensions have been high between hosts.

She revealed: "I'm not going to deny that there are occasions when people maybe have a bit of a beef with somebody else but it's nothing that hasn't been fixable."

Further emphasising the professionalism at play, Kaye stated that no presenter has ever boycotted working alongside another.

She clarified: "There's nobody who will walk out of the door when somebody else walks in. Nobody refuses to work with anybody else."

Amid widespread gossip last year, some reports were circulating that a few panellists had shunned Coleen Nolan, following purported friction with co-host Nadia Sawalha provoked by her agent.

Nonetheless, an ITV spokesperson was quick to rebuke these speculations at the time, stating: "This story is untrue. Panellists are chosen for each show by the Loose Women Editor and senior production team, not the panellists themselves."

Coleen, taking a stand against the allegations, voiced her side through X, proclaiming: "Nothing printed in The Mail article today is true and I am taking legal advice about the slurs on me personally. We'll also be addressing it on @loosewomen. Thanks for your support. Love Coleen."

Loose Women continues weekdays on ITV from 12:30pm
