ITV plan to make Britain's Got Talent winner 'new Mariah Carey' with 'huge Christmas show'

This Morning: Sydnie Christmas talks about dealing with agents after BGT win

Earlier this year, ITV viewers saw Sydnie Christmas crowned the winner of Britain's Got Talent. The singer, who was Amanda Holden's golden buzzer act, captivated the nation with her stunning vocals throughout the competition.

After securing the title, the star bagged a hefty cash prize of £250,000. However, it appears ITV have grand plans for Sydnie, with the BGT star set to be the highlight of the broadcaster's Christmas Day schedule.

A TV insider told The Sun: "Sydnie could become ITV's very own Mariah Carey."

"Her team have been in talks with top execs about making a show for Christmas Day, like an old-school variety special. Her name obviously lends itself to Christmas so it would be a blockbuster festive spectacular."

According to the source, Sydnie will host her own show where she'll belt out a series of festive classics along with her own Christmas single.

Before then, viewers will see the BGT star grace the stage at this year's Royal Variety Performance, one of the prizes for winning the competition, reports the Mirror.

With Amanda Holden and Alan Carr co-hosting the annual special, it's likely audiences will see the 53-year-old introduce Sydnie on stage.

Last month, the singer released her first single Starlight Express, with her debut album My Way expected for a September release.

Sharing a glimpse of the process behind creating the single on her Instagram, some of her followers couldn't contain their excitement ahead of hearing new music from the star.

Sydnie's calendar seems to be busy over the next few weeks as she gears up for her tour.

The 15-date tour will kick off in October, starting in Gateshead and wrapping up in Liverpool.

At the time she won the show, an emotional Sydnie told hosts Ant and Dec: "I cannot believe the amount of love that I've felt since it aired."

She continued, expressing her heartfelt gratitude: "I am overwhelmed with love and it's the most amazing thing. I wish, I wish for one day that every single person in this room can feel the way that I do, one day, with this love."

Concluding with a note of thanks, she added: "It's amazing, thank you so much."
