Kate Garraway, the popular Good Morning Britain host, is taking a temporary hiatus from her presenting duties and will not be gracing the studio this week. The 57-year-old presenter, who usually lights up our screens every Thursday and Friday on the ITV breakfast show, has been noticeably absent following her father Gordon's suspected stroke and heart attack.

Ranvir Singh, the stand-in host, was announced to fill in for her, joining Richard Madeley and Robert Rinder last week. On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, an ITV spokesperson confirmed that Kate will not be hosting the morning show this week.

A source told The Sun that Kate "is on pre-arranged leave" due to her father's health crisis. Kate had been filling in for Susanna Reid, who is enjoying a summer break, when she had to rush to her father's side upon hearing of his condition.

She has since maintained a bedside vigil for Gordon. An insider revealed to The Sun: "Very sadly, Kate's father collapsed earlier this week while staying, along with her mum and her brother in Cornwall."

"It was incredibly frightening as he was found unconscious and immediately taken to hospital. It seems likely that he's had a stroke and possibly a heart attack as well - doctors are still doing tests."

Later on, the insider divulged to OK! Magazine: "He remains in hospital and is currently stable but, understandably, it's given the whole family a terrible scare and they are praying he can recover."

"Luckily Kate is due to be off work for a few weeks anyway so she can divide her time between the hospital whilst simultaneously looking after Darcey and Billy."
