Loyal Lorraine viewers are clamouring for a revamped format on the ITV staple after Christine Lampard impressed them as host throughout the sunny season.

While the show's namesake, Lorraine Kelly, indulged in a sun-soaked hiatus over summer, stand-ins like Christine, alongside Ranvir Singh and Louise Minchin, took the helm. However, audience members have grown weary of the revolving presenter door and are voicing their desire for more recognition of Christine's sterling work.

One viewer vented on X the platform that replaced Twitter with the fiery post: "Lovely woman Christine should be renamed this show and get rid of that Kelly!" Echoes of this sentiment were heard from another, who quipped: "TBH they might as well rename it Christine for as long as she's presenting! Imagine the opening credits.."

Another fan declared their preference with the message: "I enjoy #Lorraine more when Christine hosts the show. She's more natural and comes across more genuine."

Tracking analysis by the viral Where is Lorraine account reveals that out of 150 broadcasts, Kelly has presided over just 99 episodes. That's only 66% of episodes of her eponymous programme, reports the Mirror.

And with her ongoing vacation, those numbers are anticipated to wane further.

Kelly had a light-hearted response to the Where is Lorraine tracker during her Women's Hour interview, finding the fascination with her schedule quite "hilarious" Nevertheless, she conceded with candid reflection that her Friday absences are rooted in her commitment to caring for her mother.

She remarked: "It's fine, I don't mind, I don't care. I probably would have cared before, but I really don't now, it's absolutely fine. To be honest... you should never comment on things like that if you don't know what's really going on in people's lives."

"But I am having to take quite a few Fridays off, because my mum's really not well."

Despite Lorraine Kelly traditionally taking a summer hiatus, this year will see a twist as a Strictly sensation steps in for an exclusive episode. An insider revealed to The Mirror: "ITV has lined up Michelle Visage as a part-time host for its morning chat show Lorraine. She will be hosting the show during a one-off summertime special."

"She joins the show in a bid to keep it interesting over the summer months. Michelle is thrilled to have been given this opportunity."
