Ranvir Singh sparks fury on GMB as she 'apologises' for Rachel Reeves probe

GMB: Ranvir confirms Rachel Reeves interview on budget changes

Ranvir Singh caused a frenzy online when she addressed having to question Labour's Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves. The presenter turned to her co-host, former Labour MP Ed Balls, as she gave a strange explanation as to why the politician would be appearing on the ITV show.

Following a grilling of the former Chancellor under the Tory leadership, Jeremy Hunt, explaining to the audience at home, Ranvir said: "We will be putting some of those points to the current Chancellor, Rachel Reeves, who will be on this show too."

Looking at Ed, the presenter continued: "To explain, I suppose how she will speak to pensioners as she goes out and about and has to face up to the fact that she is taking money away, the Winter Fuel Payment, from millions of pensioners." Ed nodded as he said: "That's right".

But fans at home thought it a bit strange as they took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts. One social media user wrote: "Ranvir apologises in advance about questions to Rachel Reeves. She feels she has to do that because of Ed's Mrs. You couldn't make this s**t up #Gmb #RedtoryTV."

Another bashed her presenting skills, as they added: "Both labour and Tories lied about the black hole. Do your job Ranvir, Ed is compromised because of who he's married to. #Gmb."

Someone else urged: "Ask Rachel Reeves why taxing the rich isn't an option but stealing from pensioners is an option. Ask her. #GMB."

While another penned: "So I’ll be watching #GMB after 8am to see if this pair give #RachelReeves a hard time like they did with #JeremyHunt. I’m not holding my breath."

It comes as Ed Balls faced backlash for clashing with former Chancellor of the Execquer, Jeremy Hunt.

Ed grilled the Tory MP, as he said: "If you take one number, £6.5 billion, in this year to spend on asylum hotel costs, that was the decision you had agreed with the Home Office that you hadn't made public to parliament. That's correct isn't it?"

Mr Hunt replied: "It is not correct no. It would not have cost that money if Conservatives had been in office because we would have had flights going to Rwanda..." But Ed then interrupted and spoke over the guest.

The pair then argued amongst themselves, each raising their voices hoping to have their opinions heard.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX
