Irene and Barry, a couple hailing from Essex, decided to embark on a new adventure by moving to Norfolk, as featured in an episode of BBC's Escape to the Country.

The pair experienced a humorous moment when Irene mistakenly boasted about the size of their family on national television. She proudly told viewers: "We've got seven children, 27 grandchildren and one great-grandson."

"We just hope that they don't all come home to visit on the same day."

However, her husband Barry was quick to point out the error, interjecting with: "Have I got that wrong? You said 27, is it not 17? ".

With a chuckle, Irene corrected herself: "Oh 17! Sorry! 17 grandchildren! ", reports Wales Online.

Before embarking on their property search, Irene and Barry shared their desire for a quieter life in the countryside.

They had a clear vision for their new home, with a budget of £350,000, seeking a property featuring at least two bedrooms, a spacious kitchen, and a manageable garden that wouldn't require extensive renovations.

Although the first two houses impressed them, it was the mystery house that truly captivated the couple, particularly with its charming thatched roof.

Margherita Taylor led Irene and Barry to one of the reception rooms, leaving Irene utterly amazed as she exclaimed: "I'm speechless! That doesn't happen very often."

Barry couldn't help but chuckle at her remark, quipping in response: "I can confirm that that doesn't happen very often."

Despite the garden being slightly smaller than their initial desires, the couple's enthusiasm wasn't dampened, with Irene lavishing praise on the property.

Upon discovering the asking price was £350,000, Barry remarked: "It's worth that, it's a lovely place."

The pair took another opportunity to explore the house without the BBC presenter, further solidifying their affection for it. When it came time to leave, Irene was reluctant, confessing to the camera: "Do I think I found my new home? I'm hoping so! ".

Ultimately, the episode concluded with the revelation that Irene and Barry were planning a second visit to the mystery house before deciding whether to put forward an offer.
