EastEnders has hinted at a potential comeback for two beloved Slater sisters to Albert Square.

Lynne Slater, portrayed by Elaine Lordan, hasn't graced the BBC soap since 2004, despite fans longing for her return for a Slater sisters reunion. Lynne first made her appearance with the Slaters in 2000.

Known as the elder sister to Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), Lynne is also recognised for her tumultuous relationship with her husband and bumbling mechanic Garry Hobbs (Ricky Groves).

She was employed at Ian Beale's (Adam Woodyatt) cafe and was a formidable enemy to Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks).

Although Lynne attended her father's funeral off-screen in 2016, she hasn't been seen on screen for two decades.

On the other hand, Little Mo (Kacey Ainsworth) left Walford in 2006 after enduring a series of traumatic events over six years on the Square.

Little Mo suffered abuse at the hands of her violent husband Trevor Morgan (Alex Ferns), who eventually perished in a fire, reports the Daily Star.

She was later assaulted by Graham Foster (Alex McSweeney), resulting in the birth of Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier). After an unsuccessful relationship with Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), she bid farewell to Walford.

However, in Monday's EastEnders episode (July 29), which was released early on iPlayer, Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) strongly suggests that Slater sisters Lynn and Little Mo might be making their way back to Walford.

In a heartfelt exchange at the laundrette with Kat, Alfie Moon inquires about their son Tommy Moon's (played by Sonny Kendall) behaviour after his recent aggressive episode. The dialogue quickly shifts to other family affairs.

Alfie updates Kat with the latest family plans: "So anyway, Freddie has informed me that Little Mo and Lynne are going to be going to the caravan for a bit. As you were meant to go last week, fancy it? ".

Despite her initial hesitation, Alfie suggests that some quality time away might benefit Tommy. Kat admits she's "dealing" with Tommy's issues but leaves us hanging on whether she'll join the caravan getaway with her sisters.

Could this hint at a Slater sister gathering as the soap edges closer to its 40th-anniversary celebrations?
