Game of Thrones star lands huge role in new Netflix series House of Guinness

Netflix have announced a brand new series titled House of Guinness which boasts an incredible ensemble cast of actors for the upcoming extravaganza. Leading the list of performers is Irish actor Jack Gleeson who starred in the hit series Game of Thrones as character Joffrey Baratheon from 2011 to 2014.

Jack was a part of the series for the first four seasons and his incredible performance garnered him plenty of accolades including IGN People's Choice Award for Best TV Villian and a nomination for a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Television Series.

Joining Jack as Byron Hughes in House of Guinness is Louis Partridge as Edward Guinness, Anthony Boyle as Arthur Guinness, Niamh McCormack as Ellen Cochrane and Fionn O'Shea as Benjamin Guinness.

Also starring in the show will be David Wilmot, James Norton, Seamus O'Hara, Dervla Kirwan and Michael McElhatton.

The series is billed as an epic story inspired by The Guinness family, a European dynasty that shot to fame due to the famous alcoholic beverage that they brew.

It's set in 19th century Dublin and New York, right after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man that was responsible for the success of the Guinness brewery.

The story will follow the massive impact his will had for his four children, Arthur, Edward, Anne and Ben.

The screenplay has been written by Steven Knight, who is the writer behind the critically-acclaimed BBC series, Peaky Blinders.

Tom Shankland is directing the first five episodes, with Ivana Lowell taking the helm for the further three episodes.

Fans rushed to Instagram to share their excitement for the upcoming series as one person penned: "I'm excited for this one! I saw Guinness and my immediate thoughts were Nicola Coughlan and Louisa Harland."

Another eager fan expressed: "Oh WOW!!! Fantastic that they are finally doing a drama about brewing."

While a third added: "We got Anthony and Louis in the same show, I'm so ready."

House of Guinness will be coming to Netflix.
