Corrie: Nurse tells Paul Foreman he can't leave the flat

Coronation Street aired another tragic twist for Paul Foreman on Wednesday (July 24) leaving viewers heartbroken. Paul was diagnosed with motor neurone disease last year, and his condition has been deteriorating rapidly over the past few months.

However, when a nurse visited his flat, which he shares with his husband Billy, Paul was told that it wasn't safe for him to use the stair lift or leave his home.

Paul tried to mutter to the nurse that he "was fine" before she immediately shut him down.

"No Paul, it's dangerous", before Bernie Winter clutched at straws and suggested they manually help Paul up and down the stairs.

She was also left questioning how her son is supposed to vacate the property in the event of a fire.

But Paul was told it was safer if he didn't leave his home while they looked for more suitable accommodation as he became visibly upset.

"We can't just lug him up and down the stairs like a sack of potatoes", Billy commented as he tried to comfort his husband.

The nurse then confirmed Paul couldn't leave the house until moves into a house adapted for his medical needs.

"We'll find Paul somewhere more suitable than here", nurse Jackie said, "And due to your situation you'll be a priority."

Corrie fans were left devastated as Paul becomes trapped in his flat.

Taking to X, one person wrote: "Poor Paul, got to stay in the flat. #Corrie", while another added: "Oh Paul", followed by a brokenheart emoji.

A third added: "Paul can’t use his stairlift anymore", followed by a crying face.

"Paul's a shut-in now. #Corrie", exclaimed another viewer.

Coronation Street continues on Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
