Owain Wyn Evans was left feeling emotional as he opened up on the ‘horrible’ feeling after losing his family pet. During Tuesday's episode of The BBC show, Alex Jones and Anita Rani were back on our screens and welcomed a number of guests.

Introducing the show, Alex started off by saying: “Hello and welcome to Tuesday’s One Show,” Pointing to her co-star, she continued: “Here with Anita Rani.

Anita added: “And Alex Jones. This evening we have a line-up bound to brighten up your summer with some good books, good telly and a bit of sport.

During one segment, Alex revealed the new law put in place for cat owners, she said: “Following a recent change in the law, Cat owners in England are now required to microchip their feline friends just like their canine counterparts.

Anita continued: “Yes animal charities have been calling for the rest of the UK to follow suit, Here is Owain to find out more.”

In a pre-recorded interview Owain was joined by couple Kelly and Jack who revealed that their cat, Fudge, went missing two months ago. Kelly said that their family was ‘very upset’ as she explained that he is ‘part of the family’.

Owain explained: “According to Cats Protection over the last 12 months around 150,000 pet cats in England went missing and never returned home.”

He went on to reveal that cat owners could face up to a £500 fine if they don’t have their fur babies microchipped.

Speaking to Kelly and Jack, The weather presenter opened up about his own pet, he said: “I love my cat, Frani. When we got her from the rescue centre he was already microchipped, which gives us peace of mind.”

He continued: “Along with his brother Smokey, Fudge was microchipped when he was a kitten but that aside the family did everything they could to try and find him but as the days went by they started to worry.”

Jack said: “You always think of the worst.” Opening up on the time he lost his pet, Owain said: “I remember losing my cat for a couple of weeks and it was a horrible feeling thinking you might not see your pet again.”

At the end of the segment, Owain revealed that thanks to the microchip, Kelly and Jack were finally reunited with Fudge after he was found four miles away from their house in a garden shed.
