The Repair Shop: Guests share sad story behind painting

The Repair Shop star Jay Blades is set to delve into the history of a country house as part of in his new Channel 5 show.

The programme which is titled Jay Blades: A Country House Through Time, has been carefully produced by Hungry Jay Media. The four-part series will take viewers on a journey across the decades, scanning the best part of 200 years.

He will visit the stunning location of Weston Park, in Shropshire, with each episode expected to focus on a different century, while revisiting the lives of the Bridgeman family and their staff who once resided there.

Starting from the Georgian era when the Bridgemans first moved in, the series will traverse through the Victorian and Edwardian periods, before landing in the 20th Century.

Speaking about his excitement for the upcoming programme, Jay said:"I am fascinated by history and I love hearing people's stories, I always have been. This series allowed me to combine both these passions as well as getting a taste of what life was really like at Weston Park."

He went on to say: "I was lucky enough to get hands-on experience replicating some of the main jobs of the household including being a chauffeur. I loved every moment of filming it and I can't wait to share it with Channel 5 viewers."

Jay seems to have proven himsef to be quite the entertaining tour guide as he takes viewers on a journey to explores past history.

Dan Baldwin, who is the husband of Dancing On Ice host Holly Willoughby, and the executive producer for the upcoming series was quick to hail The Repair Shop star for his commitment.

He commented: "Jay's storytelling, through hands on experience, brilliantly brings to life the incredible history of Weston Park. It's fascinating tosee Jay reflect on British society through this time."

The upcoming show, tentatively titled Jay Blades: A Country House Through Time, is a production by Hungry Jay Media. The executive producers are Lou Brown and Dan Baldwin, with Lauren Bennie as the series producer.

Fans who have been following the story, will already know about the TV's stars new endeavour after an insider shared insight with The Sun newspaper recently. Speaking of the new show, they said: "Jay will probably always be best known for The Repair Shop but he has really carved out a groove as a historian for Channel 5.

"While the East End and Midlands series had an autobiographical flavour as they explored Jay's roots, later series have shown him flex to areas beyond his own patch. The format is really gathering pace and viewers love it."

At the time Jay also expressed his facination and unknown passion for history, he said:"I love these series, uncovering eye-opening, surprising and extraordinary facts about where we live. There is so much history to delve into."
