90s kids will remember getting home from school to watch a brand new episode of Art Attack on CITV each day.

After a hiatus of 17 years, the iconic arts and crafts show is returning to our television screens with a brand new host in tow. Comedian and television personality, Romesh Ranganathan will be at the helm as the new presenter on the reboot.

Interestingly, his production company, Ranga Bee is making the show and has labelled it: "Art Attack for the next generation."

A source told The Sun: "Like millions of Brits who grew up in the Nineties and Noughties, Romesh was no doubt a fan of the show.

function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.setAttribute('src','https://live.primis.tech/live/liveView.php?s=114945&playerApiId=v114945');document.getElementById('ovp-primis').appendChild(el)} window.top.addEventListener('primisPlayerInit',e=>{try{if(e.detail&&e.detail.playerApiId==="v114945"){if(window.document.getElementsByClassName('jwplayer')[0]){e.detail.float('disable')}}}catch(e){}});window.addEventListener('DOMContentLoaded',()=>{setTimeout(()=>{if(typeof flagTcfLoaded!=='undefined'&&flagTcfLoaded===!0){loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP flagTcfLoaded',new Date())}else{document.addEventListener("tcfLoaded",()=>{loadOvpScript() ExpressApp.Log('[Load] OVP tcfLoaded',new Date())})}},1500)})

"So now he’s passing that joy on to the next generation with this modern-day interpretation, which is destined for a major children’s network, probably Children’s BBC.

"It will be something of a departure for Ranga Bee however as they tend to make comedy shows, usually starring their owner, Mr Ranganathan, himself."

Filming is reportedly set to start next month and continue for several months, meaning fans will most likely have to wait until next year to catch the show on their screens.

For anyone who is unversed about what Art Attack actually is, the show revolved around showing kids how to create incredible art pieces as well as providing super cool tricks and trips so anyone could make art at home. It was on our screens for a whopping 17 years, after airing for the first time on 15 June 1990 and it's last episode airing on 19 May 2007.

It was presented by icon Neil Buchanan for the entire duration, who also created and wrote the show behind the scenes.

The show spanned an incredible 19 series, with six Christmas specials as well as various other shorts and specials. ITV heartbreakingly announced it's cancellation in July 2007, but the programme continued airing in the form of re-runs until May 30 2011.

A release date is yet to be revealed.
