Love Island viewers say Ciaran has been 'waiting' to go at Joey Essex after heated clash

With only eight days left until the final of this year's Love Island, you'd think the Islanders would have settled down by now and already aired out their differences. Last night's episode of the ITV show (June 21) proved that wasn't the case as several stars got into heated arguments, with the most savage clash happening between Joey Essex and Ciaran Davies.

This year's crop of contestants were gathered together for the 'Grafties' awards, a ceremony to award the stars with various categories for their performances this series. Things have been bubbling to the surface between the pair after Joey previously decided to kiss Ciaran's girlfriend Nicole in a game of 'Snog, Marry, Pie', which Ciaran thought was "weird".

As tensions flared, Ciaran shouted: "Shut the f*** up, simple!", with Joey arguing back: "How about no? How about no? How about no?".

The Welsh hunk quipped: "Don't need your b******t!" as the Essex lothario added: "You can never tell me to shut the f*** up". Clearly having had enough of Joey's honesty and ability to be blunt, Ciaran shouted back: "Or what?"

Fans flocked to Reddit to share their reactions to the shocking exchange as some stated that Ciaran has been waiting for his opportunity to go against Joey. One ITV viewer suggested: "Ciaran has been WAITING for a chance to go at him, despises him and rightfully so."

Another person said: "Joey gets so easily rattled when he's called out," as somebody else agreed: "He cannot take it can he?!? I think that almost makes his behaviour worse tbh." (sic)

Yet another Reddit user joked: "Ciaran became ALOT hotter telling Joey to STFU," as someone responded: "Would've actually lost my mind having to live with him 24/7."

However, not everyone was on Ciaran's side as one fan lauded Joey for bringing the entertainment. They penned: "Once you start looking at Joey as an agent of chaos rather than a functioning human being, he becomes so much more enjoyable lol."

Joey burst onto the scene during the first episode of this series as the first ever celebrity bombshell, leaving fans in complete shock with his entrance.

After failed relationships with both Samantha Kenny and Grace Jackson, things have been going from strength to strength with him and current partner Jessy Potts.

The pair remained loyal to one another during Casa Amor and despite a few bickers here and there, they have continued their journey together.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
