James Martin halts Saturday Morning over studio chaos as producers step in

James Martin says Saturday Morning will return in August

James Martin halted ITV Saturday Morning to respond to producers during the latest instalment. The star returned to our TV screens this morning in a repeat episode, which saw him share a number of delicious recipes.

The star was joined by culinary experts Glynn Purnell, Asma Khan, and Kenny Atkinson as well as Loose Women panellist Linda Robson, for an episode that first aired back in April. However, during Glynn's demonstration, the studio descended into chaos.

During a cooking segment, Glynn demonstrated how to cook a surf and turf dish. While preparing the meal James pointed out: “So surf and Turf is steak and lobster and that kind of stuff but you’ve got mussels with it.”

“Yes we are going to be using mussels with it,” Glynn revealed. “They are very in season so mussels go with it and we are going to cook them with cider rather than wine.”

As James and Glynn were cooking together the kitchen started to get steamy from the dish and producers were unable to see fellow chef Kenny.

Revealing the producers had stepped in, James said: "Directors are saying they can’t see Kenny because of the steam can you move the pan.” Taking a long pause, James responded by saying: "Um no. Sorry, Kenny if you just move to the side."

The studio burst out laughing as Glynn then joked: "Or we can just higher his chair up or he can eat his vegetables, it's one or the other."

Moving on from the moment, James turned his attention to the dish once more and said: "This is quite unusual adding mussels to the beef."

Glynn said: “Like I said they are in season and I know they are not everyone's cup of tea or to go with a surf and turf but I thought mussels are sweet and in season. We are tiptoeing into summer foods.”

Towards the end of the segment, James joked that Glynn won’t be welcomed back on the show following a minor mishap. Glynn was looking for some spoons so everyone could taste his dish however he was unable to find any.

He later found a spoon swimming in his sauce. Looking at James, he said: "I've lost a spoon in there chef but I'm sure we'll dig it out eventually.”

As everyone laughed, James joked: "This is Glynn Purnell - this is the first and the last time you'll see him." He added: "Only joking" and then went on to savour the dish using a fork.

James Martin's Saturday Live is currently taking a break until August so the show is running repeats while it remains off air.
