Tottenham Hotspur are among the Premier League clubs weighing up a summer swoop for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, according to reports. But Erik ten Hag is said to be keen on keeping the 27-year-old after he produced a handful of crucial contributions last season.

McTominay is thought to be among the several senior United players in the shop window as INEOS look to oversee a clearout in their first summer at the helm of football operations.

He represents a sellable asset who isn't expected to be a regular starter in Ten Hag's third season in charge, despite his importance in big moments last term.

Only Rasmus Hojlund (16) and Bruno Fernandes (15) accumulated more goals than McTominay (10) in all competitions.

The Scotland international has a knack for finding the net as an impact substitute from the bench, a role which he would likely reprise this season.

And he isn't short of suitors, with Fulham already reportedly seeing a bid worth around £17million rejected out of hand by United.

According to The Sun, Tottenham have entered the race to sign McTominay, joining Premier League rivals and also overseas suitors, including Turkish giants Galatasaray.

McTominay is said to prefer to stay in England, handing Spurs a boost as they look unlikely to lure Conor Gallagher away from Chelsea.

The report adds that Ange Postecoglou is among the United No. 39's admirers and believes he can add something new to his midfield alongside James Maddison.

But Ten Hag reportedly wants to retain McTominay's services despite the need for player sales to boost his summer budget and fund more signings.

Joshua Zirkzee arrived from Bologna on Sunday, replacing Anthony Martial as Rasmus Hojlund's strike partner in a £36.5m deal.

United are expected to announce the arrival of Lille centre-back Leny Yoro this week after agreeing a £52m switch with the club and player.

Any further recruits may have to wait until further sales. United have raised £19m so far by selling Alvaro Fernandez to Benfica, Donny Van de Beek to Girona and Willy Kambwala to Villarreal.

Mason Greenwood will imminently complete a £27m exit after landing in Marseille for his medical and contract signing on Wednesday night.

Despite needing to raise more funds, United aren't expected to let McTominay leave for a cut-price fee and are said to be demanding £40m to part ways, the same fee as last summer.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Jadon Sancho are among the other players up for sale.
