This Morning's Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond red-faced after huge on-air blunder

This Morning hosts scramble on air after technical blunder

This Morning descended into chaos on Thursday as the show was hit by a series of on-air blunders. During the programme, presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary were joined by Money Saving Expert founder Martin Lewis via video link. However, technical issues had already begun to surface before they went live, with Martin being off-centre on the monitor.

The financial whizz queried his positioning, asking: "Am I in the middle? We'd suffered technical issues earlier and I was not in the middle."

Dermot attempted to calm the situation, assuring him: "Yes, you are, it's all fine here." Unbeknownst to Dermot, the day's troubles were far from over, as he and Alison would soon face further technical difficulties, reports the Mirror.

The pair were set to host a Q&A segment with Martin, where viewers could call in with their money concerns. But when it came time to introduce the callers, it became clear that things were amiss.

A candid Dermot admitted to Martin: "We don't have any communication of who you're going to be speaking to."

He mulled over the situation, clearly in need of a swift system refresh that wasn't forthcoming. Dermot stumbled momentarily before optimistically interjecting: "We'll be speaking to Eileen."

The TV anchor queried: "Do we have Eileen," only to inform the audience with a hint of disappointment: "Sadly, not no."

Alison jumped in to back up her colleague, brightly adding: "Let's have a look, the phone in... on air... Tina."

Dermot clarified: "Nope, that's yesterday, her sister isn't coming to her wedding."

The duo fiddled with the tablet briefly while Martin looked on, a picture of patience from a distance. The Brummie presenter attempted a diversion, focusing her attention on the money-saving expert.

She remarked: "We haven't got anything on our screen yet. How are you anyway bubs? Are you alright Martin, tell us about your day."

However, before he could respond, Dermot intervened to halt the small talk.

"Now hang on a second, lads, if people in our ear can just relay it to us," he vented. With Dermot now receiving piecemeal updates through his earpiece, Martin took control to bring an end to the chaos.

"No one is noticing," he quipped dryly, then added a touch of humor about the live debacle: "It's good, the advantage is this show isn't live, we can edit it afterward."

This Morning airs on ITV, from 10am on weekdays.
