BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty mocks co-star live on air with one-word swipe

Naga Munchetty takes cheeky swipe at co-star

Naga Munchetty couldn't help but make a dig at her BBC Breakfast co-star live on air during the latest installment of the morning show.

The 49-year-old presenter was back on television screens on Thursday (July 18) alongside Charlie Stayt and the pair woke up the nation with the latest headlines from across the globe.

Weather presenter Matt Taylor offered the latest forecast live from the Natural History Museum to mark the opening of the outdoor green space to support urban nature, scientific research and education, complete with a huge brand new bronze diplodocus dinosaur.

Before speaking to Matt, Naga asked Charlie: "Didn't we have Dippy at the Natrual History Museum?" and he confirmed: "Yes we did have Dippy".

She continued: "Talking to Dippy, Matt, Morning" leaving the weather presenter in fits of laughter.

It comes after Naga penned an emotional tribute to Gareth Southgate after he stepped down following England's defeat in the Euros 2024 final.

He was appointed England manager in 2016 and England reached their first World Cup semi-final in 28 years in 2018 and the first major men's final in 55 years at Euro 2020 during his tenure.

The FA are now in the process of finding his successor. The news of Southgate's departure came two days after the Three Lions were edged out 2-1 by Spain in the final.

Naga shared her disappointment online as she praised Southgate for the eight years he managed the men's squad.

She reacted to England's official announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, which read: "After 102 games and almost eight years in charge, Gareth Southgate has announced he is to leave his role as manager of the #ThreeLions."

Naga wrote: "Thank you for your passion, commitment and for bringing hope, dignity & joy Gareth x."

Her 275,000 followers flocked to comment on the post, as one penned: "Great words Naga he has done an amazing job."

A second penned: "Well said!" While a third wrote: "Nicely put naga." A fourth wrote: "Very disappointed that Gareth will not be in charge for the next World Cup. No cup wins but we were in the mix and were challenging towards the end of tournaments. Some people have short memories about the time before Gareth took charge Naga."
