ITV Loose Women's Janet Street-Porter makes health confession after surgery fears

Loose Women: Janet reveals she needs a hip replacement

Janet Street-Porter, a member of the Loose Women squad, revealed to viewers and fellow panellists Linda Robson, Judi Love and Coleen Nolan on Wednesday's edition of the ITV daytime show that she is poised for a hip replacement.

In a discussion about mobility deterioration with age, Coleen raised the question, to which Linda admitted having a "dodgy knee" requiring replacement, but confessed to procrastinating the procedure.

As she recounted an incident from a family holiday in Spain when she fell off a scooter, Linda said, "I was in Spain with my nephews, nieces and family last year and my nephew said to me 'do you want to go on a scooter' and I said yeah."

She elaborated on the story: "I was holding onto the handle bar and when I turned it took off and I ended up on my knees with my bottom in the air and my dress over my head and no one picked me up they were laughing at me. Eventually they picked me up and then I had to go to the hospital and now I need to have a knee replacement eventually."

At this point, Janet advised Linda not to delay the procedure like she had. She warned, "You better have that knee replacement because I put off having one and I really could hardly walk even 100 yards," reports the Mirror.

To lighten the mood, Linda humorously pointed out Janet's age: "Well you are 111."

After shared laughter, Janet retorted: "Linda, you'll regret that later."

Switching back to serious, Janet announced that following an MRI scan, she has been advised to undergo hip replacement surgery.

The television personality candidly shared her health struggles, admitting: "Lots of people have had a hip replacement and they are telling me that it's not as bad as the knee and I'll be walking the same day."

She disclosed her current mobility issues, confessing: "Obviously I've got to have the hip replacement but in the meantime I am wobbling and I should be using a stick but I am guilty of that."

Her colleague Judi Love chimed in with her own realisations about ageing, stating: "I've realised now in my 40s that I could twist an ankle and it takes longer to heal than when I was in my 30s so I'm much more conscious of things that I am doing and that could be what I am eating or getting exercise."
