The Yorkshire Vet: Peter 'embarrassed' by faulty equipment

Tuesday night sees another instalment of Channel 5 favourite The Yorkshire Vet, showcasing the escapades of beloved duo Jean and Steve Green.

This plucky couple has swiftly cemented their place in fans' hearts, garnering a following since they first graced screens in 2015. Jean is particularly renowned for her sharp wit and iconic slogan-emblazoned t-shirts.

Since their television debut, this quirky pair has drawn such considerable fanfare that Channel 5 granted them their own show, making its debut this week.

The show offers an intimate view into their pastoral existence on Stonybrough Farm in Thirsk; starting their day at sunrise to care for dairy calves and managing their expansive farm.

With over four decades of marital bliss spent on this land, this dynamic team continues their labour of love.

At the grand age of 95, Mr Green holds the title of Britain's oldest farmer, with unwaning assistance from his wife, who tips the scales at 72-years-young.

Yet, it is evident he harbours no intentions of relinquishing his duties anytime soon as he declares: "Working on my farm keeps me young and I've got no thoughts of retiring."

The fresh series, narrated by esteemed All Creatures Great and Small star, Peter Davison, explores potential avenues for diversification for the committed couple.

Jean candidly voiced her concerns about the realities of modern agriculture, admitting: "Farming is not what it used to be and is becoming increasingly difficult to make ends meet."

Viewers will also delve deeper into their lives. Described by Jean as "simple", she reveals: "We like the simple life, we get up early and have breakfast then go out and feed the baby animals we have.

"We come in and light the fire with wood to have a bath.

Also making an appearance in the series is Peter Wright, who has served as The Green's vet for over an impressive 40 years.

Viewers on Channel 5 will join Jean as she explores various revenue streams for their farm. This includes touring a five-star cat hotel, checking out a glamping site, visiting an alpaca farm and heading over to visitor farm attraction Cannon Hall Farm set in South Yorkshire.

Other familiar faces from The Yorkshire Vet such as Julian Norton and Matt Jackson-Smith are also set to grace the screen.

Jean went on to say: "People envy our way of life. We haven't got much money but we get by on what we've got.

"Money doesn't interest us at all and we haven't let stardom go to our heads, You can still take us as you find us. We won't change, I don't think we could."

The Yorkshire Vet: At Home With The Greens starts Tuesday, July 16 at 8pm on Channel 5.
