The ludicrous disaster film Sharknado which spawned five sequels along with a slew of imitations such has Clownado and Monsternado has inspired yet another spin-off.

This time, it's the turn of our feline friends to get caught up in a twister in the aptly named 'Catnado', courtesy of Wild Eye Releasing.

The film's synopsis reveals: "The world faces a horrific onslaught of tornadoes, each unleashing hordes of enraged and deadly cats upon humanity! As chaos reigns, a disparate group of individuals have one mission: to stop this feline fury."

It further adds: "But against such odds, and with only one life to spare per person, their battle becomes a cat-astrophic struggle for survival. And when the fur flies it will be a meow-ssacre!".

Catnado is an anthology film featuring segments directed by Donald Farmer, Curtis Everitt, Alaine Huntington, Blair Kelly, James M. Myers, Melvin Pittman, Tim Ritter, Jerry Williams, and Logan Winton.

The cast includes Erica Rowell Green, Joshua G Otto, Blair Kelly, Serena Salieri, and Tucky Williams, reports the Daily Star.

The trailer for 'Catnado' tantalises viewers with close-ups of felines while a voiceover describes their dual nature as sources of "joy and happiness" and yet potential cold-blooded killers, before diving into a frenzy of scenes featuring people under feline attack and the grand reveal of the titular 'Catnado'.

Amidst the chaos, one particularly amusing moment in the trailer shows a stuffed toy cat being flung at a car window, prompting hilarious online reactions. One viewer quipped: "That toy cat hitting the car window is legit everything," and another chimed in to say the film "looks better than Cats The Musical."

Set to claw its way onto screens on October 22, 'Catnado' will forego a theatrical release, instead landing directly on VOD and DVD platforms.
