ITV Lorraine Kelly left red-faced after awkward live blunder with Hollywood actress
Lorraine Kelly found herself in an uncomfortable position during a chat with Bridget Jones star Celia Imrie, who was on the show to discuss her new book. The veteran ITV presenter, known for her thorough preparation before interviewing guests, admitted she wasn't as ready as she'd have liked for Monday's (July 1) episode.
In a face-to-face conversation with Celia, Lorraine awkwardly confessed that she hadn't had the opportunity to finish reading her guest's book, Meet Me At Rainbow Corner. The Scottish TV host lamented not having enough time to get through Celia's latest work.
It became clear that Lorraine was unprepared when Celia explained the significance of the book's release date, July 4. Celia said: "Thursday will be a busy day but nether the less that will be coming out [she pointed at the book] on July 4th because of the GIs, in honour of them."
Lorraine responded: "Of course, that makes so much sense, Independence Day."
Rather than pretending to know more about the book, Lorraine chose to admit that she hadn't had sufficient time to read it all, reports the Daily Star.

Celia didn't have anything to say on Lorraine not reading her book (Image: ITV)She said: "Meet Me At Rainbow Corner, out on Thursday and I can't wait to finish it all. I only got it yesterday and I would have finished it."
She grumbled: "I don't like talking to people until I've read their whole book but I've still got that wee joy."
The actress responded with a gracious smile, brushing aside the remark.
Celia Imrie CBE, the acclaimed Anglo-Scottish star, has made her mark in the film industry with memorable roles in hits such as the Bridget Jones saga, Calendar Girls, Nanny McPhee, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel series, and Mamma Mia, among others.

On another joyful note, Lorraine is over the moon about becoming a grandmother for the first time, as her daughter Rosie is expecting.
Chatting with Express.co.uk, she exclaimed: "I tell you what, there's no better title in the world!"
"It hasn't quite sunk in yet, to be honest - but I'm just so thrilled," she continued. "I'm so proud of my wee girl and she's got a lovely, lovely partner and they're really happy - and I'm going to be a granny!"
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
