GB News host Eamonn Holmes says he's 'basically disabled' and 'needs carers'

Eamonn Holmes opens up about feeling humiliated and having carers

Eamonn Holmes, who made a triumphant return to GB News today after an unexpected absence due to health issues, has openly discussed his recent health scare, describing it as a humbling experience.

The star had sparked concern among fans when he abruptly disappeared during a 7:45am interview with Mental Health Minister Maria Caulfield on Tuesday.

During the interview, he remained silent and then suddenly vanished, leaving his co-host Isabel to steer the show solo for nearly two hours.

Back on air during Wednesday's edition of the show, alongside Ellie Costello, Eamonn initiated a conversation about the upcoming General Election. The pair were joined by two guests, Polly and Michelle, who came on the show to express their views ahead of Thursday's political face-off.

Michelle didn't mince her words, stating: "Keir Starmer doesn't know what working class is. Keir is out of touch and his definition of working class is actually upper middle class and he is not in touch with the people. He is a long way off what is going on in the real world," reports OK!.

Eamonn added some intriguing thoughts: "I see the very good points you make. I am working class born and bred but I have to admit I'm obviously not in a working class area now but I do mix with working class people but my pay packet means that I am definitely not working class but all my roots are working class."

The television presenter commented: "You can be conservative and working class, you can be liberal democrat and working class and you can be labour and working class. At least you have to know what you are."

Michelle added to the conversation saying: "I would love to bring Keir Starmer, Rishi Sunak and Nigel Farage out to work with me for a day as a care support worker. They should come out with me for the day and see what I do, see what hours I work. I'm not finishing at 6pm on a Friday afternoon. I'm working 60 hours a week for £12.50 an hour."

Discussing his personal life, Eamonn expressed: "I just want to say what you do. I have been basically disabled for a year and a half or so and I have to have a carer to do the smallest simplest things and it's humiliating and humbling but thank goodness that careers are available."

Although the justification for his sudden exit from the show yesterday has not been publicly stated by Eamonn, a source told Express.co.uk: "Eamonn had to finish earlier today as he was feeling unwell. He hopes to be back tomorrow."
