This Morning's Ben Shephard sparks outrage with brutal swipe at Cat Deeley's husband

This Morning: Ben calls Cat's husband an 'underdog'

It looked as though Cat Deeley was less than impressed on Monday morning as her co-star Ben Shephard couldn't help but take a cheeky swipe at her husband, Patrick Kielty. During the show, ITV viewers saw the duo speaking about this year’s World's Ugliest Dog winner.

Giving more information about the pooch, Cat shared that the winner was an eight-year-old Pekingese named Wild Thang. As Ben highlighted that everybody falls in love with their pet, regardless of how they look, guest Sonia Sodha agreed.

She said: “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, no one thinks that their own pet is ugly.” Jumping in, Cat added: “I also quite like an underdog! I quite like a dog with literally three legs or-”

Cutting her off her co-host Ben asked: “Are you drawn to them?” As she confessed she was more drawn to the lesser attractive pooches, the This Morning star couldn't help but take a cheeky swipe.

Ben quipped: “That’s why you married Paddy?” Guests Sonia and Gyles Brandreth were gobsmacked by the swipe as they awkwardly laughed at the joke.

Cat hit back: “Oh my goodness, you know he’s poorly at the moment! So, he can’t sort you out!”

As Cat poked her tongue out to indicate they were only messing about with one another, Ben swiftly moved on.

He continued: “I think Wild Thang looks absolutely glorious!”

Later on in the show, the 47-year-old delved more into her husband’s current condition as she revealed he has shingles.

Speaking to Dr Sara Kayat later on in the show, Cat and Ben revealed they both know a few people who have been struck down by the disease.

Admitting her husband has it at the moment, Cat told Dr Sara that he didn’t know what the symptoms were.

She said: “He thought he’d got fibreglass in his face because he’d been shifting things at the house that’s under construction at the moment and he thought he’d touched his face.

“He got this burning, tingling, stinging sensation but that’s what he thought it was.”

Asking what people need to look out for, Dr Sara shared that at first, it is the tingling sensation Cat’s husband had, before feeling fatigued.

After a few days, she told ITV viewers a blotchy rash will appear which will develop into fluid-filled blisters which start to crust and scab away.

Cat explained that Paddy has the rash on his face, although Dr Sara shared they can appear anywhere on the body, but are often on the torso.

This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
