Coronation Street fans 'figure out' Steve McDonald's new romantic interest as sparks fly
Coronation Street fans believe unlucky in love Steve McDonald (played by Simon Gregson) could be heading for romance with another Weatherfield character in the ITV soap. Viewers think there are sparks between the cab driver and Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) who has begun working for him as a carer for father-in-law Ken Barlow (William Roche).
Their relationship got off to an inauspicious start as Steve only hired her to save money on a properly qualified carer. When Ken discovered she had no qualifications, he fired her.
However, he had a change of heart and she found herself back working at number one, but Steve delighted in making her life miserable getting her to cut Ken's toenails.
Her job wasn't all bad though as Ken treated her to lunch at the Bistro leading to a flirty exchange between her and Steve upon her return. When Ken admitted he had paid for the meal Cassie told Steve: "You should take notes - you might get more dates."
"I don't need any dating advice from you," he snapped back. "That's good to hear," she replied. "Embracing your celibacy are you?" "I could have a date if I wanted," Steve proclaimed.

One said: "Do you think Cassie caring for Ken will lead to Steve and Cassie getting together? #Corrie."
Another echoed: "#corrie obviously going to put cassie and steve together."
And a third quipped: "Cassie and Steve are defo gonna be a thing like #corrie well if randy Ken doesn't get in there first the old Casanova!"

It wasn't just the fans who felt the sparks fly. Steve's daughter Amy (Elle Mulvaney) also teased him about Cassie.
She told him that the pair of them seemed to have something between them. "The way you two banter kind of reminds me of how you were with mum," she said cheekily.
Steve protested he didn't like Cassie but Amy seemed unconvinced saying that while she believed him "millions wouldn't".
Steve has been single since wife Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) ran off to Spain with former footballer Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn).
Coronation Street is on ITV Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays at 8pm.
