Frank Skinner left mortified after wardrobe blunder in torrential rain

Donnington Park, in  Leicestershire, opened to Download Festival ticket holders on Friday for three days of non-stop live music from a plethora of singers and bands.

This year, Queens of the Stoneage and Fall Out Boy are headling the event for the first time - bringing a mix of 90s and 00s rock to fans' ears.

In attendance at the rather muddy event was comedian and actor Frank Skinner, 67, who sheltered from the rain to speak exclusively with Express.co.uk about the music gathering which is now in its 21st year.

When asked how he was coping with the typically unpredictable British weather which has been a mixture of heavy rain and outbreaks of sun, followed by further downpours, he admitted: "It's horrible!

"A friend said to me, 'I've got you a poncho so don't worry,' and when I got the poncho from him, I realised it was for a 10-year-old.

"So I've literally been wearing that over my coat looking like a burst condom everywhere I've gone!"

He went on to reveal staff members in a Mary Wyatt shop at the festival "felt so sorry for me" and they gave him a "really fashionable" poncho from their collection.

Frank quipped: "And then being helpful, they actually cut the child's poncho off me.

"So for all the great bands I have seen, my story is that I had a child's poncho cut off me in the Mary Wyatt shop."

Bands performing at this year's Download Festival include Sum 41, Billy Talent, The Offspring and Bowling For Soup.

"I love this festival," Fran exclaimed. "Because I am worried about festivals where they mix the genre because I just want to see the kind of music I like.

How to claim compensation for delayed or cancelled trains

The amount of compensation you are entitled to will depend on how long you were delayed, and on the operator's compensation thresholds.

One nationwide rail compensation scheme is Delay Repay, or you may also be able to write to the train company directly.

Train operators may be able to pay your compensation straight into your bank account, or they may offer you vouchers to use on future train journeys.
