This Morning panel discuss report into gender identity treatment

Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary was noticeably quiet during today's segment as neither spoke for up to three minutes.

Vanessa Feltz and Tom Swarbrick joined the This Morning duo as they discussed gender dysphoria - which is the feeling of discomfort or distress that might occur in people whose gender identity differs from their sex assigned at birth or sex-related physical characteristics, according to the NHS.

The discussion titled "NHS Gender Identity Services Failed Children" addressed reports adolescents would no longer be given experimental puberty blockers.

But some viewers took to social media and reacted to Alison and Dermot appearing to not be fully engaged in the chat with the show guests as the duo were relatively silent on the subject, as one claimed it was "not good enough".

@ann_freema44247 tweeted: "Has someone taken out Hammond and O'Leary's batteries #ThisMorning."

@MeVsTheTories commented: "What’s annoying me more is Derm and Alison sitting there like they have a sock in their mouths. Just not good enough #ITV @thismorning #ThisMorning."

@jimm said: "Alison and Dermot are a bit quiet."

Vanessa gave her view about children who have struggled with gender dysphoria, with Dermot interjecting to share more details about the report, before Tom chimed in and added patients needed to be "treated with care" before any clinical trial and could potentially be "negligible" with prescribing the drugs.

Viewers noted Vanessa and Tom continued to discuss the topic for up to five minutes without much input from the This Morning hosts.

Others noted new hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard were noticeably absent from This Morning as the duo, who replaced Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield earlier this year, took a break from their presenting duties during the Easter holidays.

However, some viewers were left unimpressed as @Dario quipped: "I love #ThisMorning for having previously promoted permanent presenters Ben and Cat only to find out they are as elusive as #Lorraine."

@lucythepug wrote: "Not watched this much for a while. Dermot and Alison are back; I’d actually forgotten that Ben and Cat are meant to be the ‘permanent’ replacements! #thismorning."
