 | For many of us, Christmas is traditionally spent in the family home, surrounded by loved ones. This year, how about a family holiday to one of the world's most beautiful capitals?
Paris, New York, London... discovering any of these cities at Christmas is the stuff of travel dreams, adorned with lights and decorations, and imbued with a sense of magic. Over the coming weeks, we will be talking about each one of them, starting with Paris of course, our home city!
Paris, The City of Lights, takes on a whole new meaning at Christmas. We invite you to stroll through its illuminated streets, discovering the many window displays, such as those at Printemps Haussmann, which is decked out in paper to evoke traditional Christmas greetings this year. You can also stroll through Place Vendôme to discover a square studded with Christmas trees, and spend some time at the Christmas market in the Tuileries Garden.
Elsewhere, the French capital also offers a rich cultural calendar this time of year, with the Opéra national de Paris presenting Les Contes d'Hoffmann, the Nutcracker ballet or performances by Czech artist Jiří Kylián. This December, The Louvre invites visitors to discover masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum in Naples, with its exhibition entitled Naples in Paris, and Musée d'Orsay is currently hosting works by painter Peter Doig and a Van Gogh exhibition entitled Van Gogh in Auvers-sur-Oise.
