Introducing The Air Show Podcast Where I Join Forces With Brian Sumers and Jon Ostrower

After last year’s Cranky Dorkfest, I headed over to The Proud Bird to relax and watch more airplanes, because… well what is more fun that that? I had previously had discussions with Brian Sumers, but Jon Ostrower was there in person and pulled me aside. We had a little chat about an idea that I’m proud to announce has now become a reality.

Today, we dropped the first episode of The Air Show podcast. Listen on Apple Podcasts or anywhere you get your podcasts. (At least, you will be able to hear it anywhere. It’s so fresh that it may not have fully propagated just yet.)

The Air Show is a weekly collaboration between the three of us — along with our producer Sara Fay — to discuss the business of the sky. Consider today’s episode to be an introduction in the first half with a taste of what’s to come in the second. Going forward, you can expect at least two of us — it will vary depending upon the topic at hand — to spend about a half hour each week going in-depth on one or two topics. This isn’t a news summary or a wrap-up. It’s a hard and detailed look at this industry we know and love.

The idea behind us coming together was to lean on our strengths. You all know Jon Ostrower for his remarkable work on aircraft and safety topics at The Air Current. Brian Sumers takes a higher level view on strategy and pays close attention to the global industry on The Airline Observer. I bring my knowledge and experience in the commercial world including revenue/network/marketing and sales/distribution. We do overlap, and that’s part of the appeal. We each bring a unique opinion to the mix.

Unlike the Cranky Talk podcast which Dave and I do for a broader audience, this is an industry podcast built for those that work in and around the aircraft/airline industry. That means people who work at airlines and manufacturers but also airports, vendors, and others with a vested interest.

The Air Show wouldn’t be possible without the support of our two launch sponsors: Intelsat and Plusgrade. Thank you to them both.

We have created a website for The Air Show at theairshowpodcast.com. There you’ll find a way to get in touch with us. We want to hear from you with feedback, topic ideas, questions, and most importantly, opinions on which one of the three of us is the most handsome.

We have been looking forward to getting this started for many months now, so I hope you enjoy it.
