Ethiopian Airlines will increase its Addis Ababa-Seoul Incheon route to six weekly nonstop flights from 28 October.

Also, the Star Alliance carrier will upgrade the service to its most modern long-haul aircraft, the Airbus A350-900, replacing Boeing 787 aircraft.

The A350 aircraft seat 30 passengers in business class, and 318 in economy class.

Ethiopian says the upgrades follow “fruitful discussions between the aeronautical authorities of Korea and Ethiopia”.

Ethiopian has just marked its 10th Seoul anniversary. Incheon was the airline’s 73rd destination ten years ago, and this has since nearly doubled to more than 130 destinations currently served across five continents.

In the Asia-Pacific region, Ethiopian also flies to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

“Ethiopian is the only African carrier connecting Seoul to the continent and beyond, and the additional frequencies will be significant in fostering economic, cultural, and social interactions providing more diverse and convenient connectivity options to travellers,” commented Ethiopian Airlines group chief executive, Mesfin Tasew.

“As a pan-African carrier, it gives us pleasure to give additional flight options between Addis Ababa, the diplomatic capital of Africa, and Seoul, the rising hub of East Asia. We are especially thrilled by the opportunity to serve our esteemed passengers with the latest Airbus A350-900 aircraft,” he added.
