Drew McIntyre made his arrival on WWE Smackdown this week and surprisingly showed his support to Cody Rhodes. Friday night’s show saw Rhodes open the show and talk about how he wants to fight Kevin Owens but isn’t cleared to compete until the Royal Rumble due to Owens’ package piledriver to him on Saturday Night’s Main Event.
McIntyre then walked out to interrupt Rhodes, having made his way over to the brand via the open transfer window. He hugged Rhodes, surprising him, and said he’s known Rhodes for a long time and is there to help. McIntyre said they’re in the best era of all time and said Rhodes needed someone to watch his back, and he could be that person. Rhodes said that he didn’t need anyone to watch his back and offered to defend the WWE Championship against McIntyre, but McIntyre said he wasn’t there to hurt Rhodes. He told Rhodes to watch his back before leaving. Rhodes was attacked by Owens and they brawled until being separated.
