Michael Oku recently recalled coming into RevPro back in 2018 and his road to eventually winning the Undisputed British Heavyweight Title. Oku spoke about his start and more in the RevPro: How To Start A Revolution documentary and talked about how he rose to the top of the company.
“RevPro really felt like I was given opportunities based on the hard work I was putting in,” Oku said (per Fightful). “My debut was in 2018. Kurtis Chapman would always go to Andy and say, ‘Michael’s really good. I thought my friend Michael, he’s really good,’ and I ended up being in a squash match against Great-O-Khan the next day and I said, perfect, wonderful, that’s fine. I made the most of those two minutes and I pressed Andy enough within those two minutes of getting beaten up that he wanted to give me more opportunities. I came out to the contenders music and I wasn’t even a contender. It was just music.”
He continued, “It’s like, when I’ve been giving you music years in the Indies, from being a maybe contender to try and work and earn a spot in the contender division, all the way to winning literally everything in RevPro and defeating the Great-O-Khan to become the British Undisputed Heavyweight Champion. It really felt like all the steps that took me there via RevPro was because I put in the work and I showed that I’m worth something.”
Oku is the current Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion in his second reign, having won the title at Uprising on December 21st from Luke Jacobs.
