In the latest episode of What Happened When (via Fightful), Tony Schiavone gave his review of the Von Erich biopic The Iron Claw, which he liked even though it had flaws. He specifically took issue with Dean Eisenberg as Ric Flair and Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich.
He said: “I liked it. A couple of things I didn’t like, I think most of us did not like who portrayed Ric Flair and I don’t know if there is an actor out there who would’ve really captured Ric Flair. Even though The Bear may be one of my favorite shows of all time, I [don’t think Jeremy Allen White] did a good Kerry Von Erich. Yeah. He’s a good actor, but Kerry to me, he was just a bit more muscular guy. He just didn’t look physically to me like Kerry Von Erich.”
When asked if he only meant White’s physical presence and not his performance, he added: “Yes, absolutely. Hell, the kid has won an Emmy for The Bear.”
