On the latest episode of Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy, the AEW star talked about the angle where Mariah May turned on Toni Storm on the July 10th episode of Dynamite after earning a Women’s Title shot against Storm at All In by winning the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. You can check out some highlights below:

On the angle: “I thought it was great, I really did. And I compliment AEW on going there. And I love the violence, I love the viciousness. Because it made it mean so much more in so many ways, that she was so violent. She was just like a killer, whenever she decided to flip the script on Toni Storm. So I was all about that. You know, I had Mariah May winning the deal right from the jump. And I thought it was very cool that they pulled the trigger there. Because you could tell they were about to pull the trigger soon. But I thought the way they did the angle was excellent, and kudos for AEW for doing it that way… The Mariah May story with Toni Storm is great, and I am a fan of it. I’m a fan of what they’ve done. I’m a fan of how they changed gears and went really vicious and really violent, and now can get dark and serious and personal.”

On Bryan Danielson beating Hangman Page to win the Men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament: “That was a match which, I would have guessed initially going in that they were going to do Hangman-Swerve again at All In. But I thought it was very cool that Bryan Danielson won. I was all about that. I thought that felt kind of unpredictable. And you know, it’s cool. I loved it because from a storytelling aspect, Hangman has been so good these couple weeks that he’s been back. And the fact that he is so angry and so furious. He’s just apoplectic in life, right? In every single thing, and especially he is obsessed over Swerve and this championship.

“And the fact that he didn’t get the opportunity, I think, motivates him to be even worse and just sends his character in more of a downward spiral in some ways. So I dug that he told The Elite ‘No’ right from the jump, but then he agreed to team with them just following this loss. So it’s interesting, and I know you just said you can see something where he ends up being in that match. And I could see that working as well. But I did think Bryan Danielson winning was a good call and something that felt unpredictable. And I think predictability is always good.”
