– During a recent edition of the 1 Of A Kind podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam weighed in on AEW airing the CM Punk and Jack Perry footage from AEW All In: London in August 2023, saying it gives a unique factor to AEW similar to ECW. Rob Van Dam stated on AEW airing the footage (via WrestlingInc.com), “That’s how people are taking this whole AEW thing, saying by AEW filming it that they’re localizing their growth potential to a point to where they’re coming across small, some people think they’re gonna implode they’re so small, and I look at it like it’s more like ECW-style.”
RVD noted that ECW would sometimes incorporate real-life legal issues into its TV product and storylines. He also added that the Punk situation was a good angle to use for The Young Bucks’ storyline with FTR. Notably, Jack Perry made a surprise return to AEW last Sunday at Dynasty, helping The Bucks win the AEW Tag Team Titles from FTR in a Ladder Match.
