Matt Makowski faced NXT star Charlie Dempsey in a surprise match at Bloodsport X, and he has revealed when he found out about the bout. Makowski spoke with Fightful’s Jeremy Lambert & Joel Pearl on In the Weeds about the match, and you can see some highlights below:
On when he found out about the show: “The day before. Josh was on Ariel Helwani’s show and there was a tweet about Victor was supposed to wrestle Anthony Henry, but Anthony was injured so AKIRA and Victor were going to wrestle. I’m like, ‘Okay.’ I messaged Lauderdale [GCW promoter Brett Lauderdale] and was like, ‘What are we doing?’ He was like, ‘You’re going to wrestle Regal’s kid.’ That’s how that went.”
On who he talked to about uit: “I didn’t really chat with Josh about it. From what I understand, Charlie was targeted to maybe be on as a surprise competitor on the show. I talked with him a little bit, but that’s all I really got, is that he was maybe he was going to be on and they were trying to find somebody for him to work. Maybe they shuffled things around at the last minute.”
