NEW YORK -- Knicks center Mitchell Robinson had surgery on his left ankle Monday, his second procedure on the ankle this season, league sources told ESPN.

Robinson was already deemed to be out for the rest of the playoffs after imaging found a stress reaction following Game 1 of the Knicks' series against the Indiana Pacers last week. After consultation with doctors, it was decided he needed the procedure. He will be re-evaluated in 6-8 weeks.

Robinson initially re-injured the ankle in the first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers. He missed Game 4 of that series to deal with the injury but returned for three more games before being forced to shut it down.

Robinson had a surgery on a stress fracture in December and missed 50 games, returning in March with just 11 games left in the season. He averaged 5.6 points and 8.5 rebounds in 31 regular-season games.

The Knicks play the Pacers in Game 5 of their 2-2 series on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.
