Phil Mickelson might not have enjoyed the best season at LIV Golf in 2024 but he’s at least set to start this one by looking the part. The six-time major winner finished 46th in the individual standings on the Saudi-backed tour, with his HighFlyers GC team 12th overall in the team event.
But the American continues to be a big presence with LIV and has frequently defended his decision to jump ship from the PGA Tour in June 2022.
He received a signing-on fee in the region of £150million for his move, and seemingly hasn’t been afraid to spend his considerable wealth on clothing items.
And now he’s unveiled the flash new custom footwear he’ll be wearing for the 2025 campaign. In a video posted on the official LIV Golf X account, the 54-year-old showed off the shoes that he says were gifted to him by golf YouTube star Grant Horvat.
After being asked what he was wearing during a practice round, he explained “So I’ve got some shoes that Freeman Lewis hooked me up with. Grant Horvat actually gave them to me.”
And he then pointed out all the finer details of the designs, which included both his own branding and that of his HighFlyer team. “So we’ve got like, these little slashes are for tour wins,” he said, as the camera honed in on his feet.
“Then my little logo here, then we’ve got major wins, then we’ve got the HighFlyer logo here on the other side. So yeah, kind of a cool little deal (smiling). Thank you Sir.”
His famous ‘Lefty’ nickname was also apparent on the tongues of both shoes. Mickelson has long been into his flash footwear, and in 2023 was seen wearing a pair of Air Jordan Nike trainers that had been customised into golf shoes.
The LIV season gets underway in Saudi Arabia from February 6-8. And Mickleson will at least arrive in Riyadh with one over his LIV rivals when it comes to his new gift.

It will be the first of 13 rebel events before the Team Championship finals take place in Michigan in August. Mickelson is yet to win a tournament since his high-profile switch, with his last success coming when still aligned to the PGA Tour in November 2021.
He triumphed at the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Phoenix. Earlier that year, he’d captured the PGA Championship, aged 50, to become the oldest winner of a major title.
