Welsh football superstar Gareth Bale encountered an unexpected twist during the Alfred Dunhill Links Pro Am when an audacious dog hijacked the spotlight by nabbing his golf ball mid-game.
Rubbing shoulders with sporting legends and celebrities such as Andy Murray, Ruud Gullit, Kevin Pietersen, Bill Murray, and Piers Morgan at the renowned St Andrews, Bales game took a comical turn.
In a scene that brought some light-hearted drama to the event, as Bale made a chip onto the green, a spirited local pooch couldn't resist joining in, dashing onto the course and gleefully seizing the ball before depositing it back where it started, much to the crowd's delighted chuckles.
One flustered lady, possibly the pup's embarrassed human, was heard despairingly exclaiming "Oh, no, no! " amidst the chaos.
At present, Bale stands impressively tied in 18th place with a score of 19 under, sharing the round with Daniel Brown. Meanwhile, Belgian pro Nicholas Colsaerts is topping the leaderboard at 14 under, followed closely by Scottish talent David Law, while golfing ace Rory McIlroy finds himself a bit off pace, sitting in 49th position, reports Wales Online.

The former Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur sensation has recently been recognised for a golf handicap that's plunged to scratch - a testament to Bale's serious skills that put him amongst the elite amateur rankings.
