Tiger Woods is reportedly in talks to take part in the US Senior Open in two years' time. The tournament, which is only open to over-50s, has been backed to change its rules to accommodate Woods.

The American has recently navigated tournaments in a golf cart. It comes after he sustained injuries in a horror car crash two years ago.

Woods underwent ankle surgery last year and has since hobbled around courses. There are strict rules around when players can use a cart to move around at tournaments.

But Steven Stricker, the tournament host, has suggested that rule could be amended if Woods decides to play at the US Senior Open.

Stricker said: “Let’s make sure he can play. You hate to make special rules but if we can get him out here with a cart, let’s do it, you know what I mean,” he said. “We should do everything we can.”
