PGA Tour star Adam Hadwin joked about his own security guard run-in after Just Stop Oil targeted the Travelers Championship. Multiple protestors stormed the 18th green at TPC River Highlands on Sunday.
They were swiftly apprehended by the security guards and police - something which Hadwin knows all too well about. At last year’s Canadian Open, he stormed onto Toronto’s Oakdale Golf and Country Club to celebrate fellow native Nick Taylor’s victory.
Taylor triumphed after a four-hole play-off to end the 69-year wait for a Canadian golfer to win their own tournament. But in the chaos of the celebrations, Hadwin had forgotten to wear his credentials.

So his champagne spraying was quickly halted by an alert guard who took him to the ground before the confusion was later cleared up. Taking to X following the Just Stop Oil protest, Hadwin joked: “I’d like to point out that when I was tackled, I held onto the bottle. Unlike this guy.”
One of the environmental activists were readying a bag of orange powder when they were floored from behind, dropping it in the process. The incident occurred just as leader Scottie Scheffler and second-placed Tom Kim were about to finish their final round in Connecticut.
Thankfully no balls or markers were disturbed, so play resumed around five minutes later. But the break may have impacted Scheffler’s focus as he narrowly missed a birdie putt, while Kim converted his from 10 yards to tie the lead.

The green was cleared of any powder and the hole moved for the play-off, which Scheffler won with a par after Kim was unable to get up and down from the bunker. The world No.1 therefore became the first player to win six times before July since Arnold Palmer in 1962.
It follows his triumphs at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The Players, The Masters, RBC Heritage and Memorial Tournament. "It's pretty special," Scheffler admitted in his post-round media duties.
"It's been a great season, I've been fortunate to come away with some wins and it's been a lot of fun. Tom played his heart out. He's a great player, a great champion and it was fun battling with him."
