Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly not told Liverpool officials that he is keen to leave the club for Real Madrid, despite an opening offer from the Spanish champions. The Anfield stalwart remains a central figure in Liverpool's quest for Premier League glory under Arne Slot and appears unfazed by the overtures from Spain.

According to The Mirror, Alexander-Arnold has not signalled any desire to relocate to the Santiago Bernabeu outfit, despite reports from the Spanish press. As Liverpool fend off Real Madrid's advances, having swiftly turned down their opening bid for their academy graduate ahead of the January transfer window, talks of Alexander-Arnold's contract renewal with Liverpool persist.

Speaking about speculation around his potential move previously, the England defender maintained that his contractual discussions with the Merseyside team will remain behind closed doors. In his own words, he explained: "I have been at the club 20 years now and I have signed four or five contract extensions... and none of those have been played out in public. This one won't be either."

Slot has been asked about Alexander-Arnold's future on countless occasions since his arrival from Feyenoord. After the versatile defender scored in the Reds' 5-0 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium, Slot remarked: "He's playing really well, scored a great goal and the way he celebrated his goal probably tells you enough, so I don't think I have to say much more about it."

He elaborated on his contentment with his players, saying: "I'm really happy with Trent, just as happy as I am with Mo (Salah) and with Virgil (van Dijk), so for me there's no difference. For the outside world, maybe there's a bit more things happening around Trent in the media than with the other two, but yeah, I'm happy with all three of them at the moment."

Contrasting with this sentiment is Anfield icon Jamie Carragher’s interpretation; he suggested on social media that Alexander-Arnold might be looking for an exit.

Carragher observed: "I love Trent as a lad and a player, but his team would've told Real Madrid to bid and also would've known LFC would turn it down. It's to try and cover themselves when he leaves for free."

Alexander-Arnold, who has 333 games under his belt with Liverpool since ascending from the academy, boasts an impressive cabinet including the Premier League and Champions League titles. As Liverpool prepares for their clash with Manchester United at Anfield, Alexander-Arnold aims to continue being instrumental despite the outside noise.
