Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw by Fulham after Tom Cairney's fantastic strike cancelled out Brennan Johnson's opening goal. In a match that came to life in the second half, Ange Postecoglou's side rode their luck but might feel aggrieved not to have come away with all three points.
Johnson tapped home Werner's pass 10 minutes into the first half. Spurs, who were without the ill Dominic Solanke, created further opportunities to go ahead.
However, Fulham, who had targeted Spurs' right-hand side, worked a good move that saw Cairney curl home from the edge of the penalty area. An eventful 30-minute cameo after coming on as a substitute saw the Fulham star sent off for a rash challenge late on.
Fraser Forster - 7
Forster made a couple of very important saves as he stepped in for Guglielmo Vicario for the first time since the Italian’s injury. The experienced former England shot-stopper will hope to have settled speculation over Spurs signing another goalkeeper with this display.
Pedro Porro - 5
Fulham’s Reiss Nelson generally had the better of Porro. Much of Fulham’s best work came down Spurs’ right-hand side and that will be a concern for Postecoglou.
Radu Dragusin - 6
Dragusin has endured a tough first year at Spurs but this was a better display from the Romanian. He and Ben Davies have formed a positive defensive partnership.
Ben Davies - 7
Davies made three crucial interventions in the first half to deny Fulham. In the week the Welshman extended his contract by a year, he remains an excellent option for Postecoglou at the age of 31.
Destiny Udogie - 6
Left-back Udogie was a little sluggish in possession and perhaps needs a rest. Spurs’ inability to sign another player in his position means he has to play in most matches.
Pape Matar Sarr - 7
Quickly becoming one of the most important players in this Spurs team, Sarr’s combative style was extremely useful against Fulham’s physical midfield.
Yves Bissouma - 6
Bissouma was busy in midfield, allowing those in front of him to create chances.
James Maddison - 6
Maddison drifted in and out of the game but had one moment of expertise when his clever free-kick struck the base of the post.
Brennan Johnson - 7
Relatively quiet until his goal, Johnson is not a man you keep out of a game for very long this season. The Welshman’s trademark run from the right to the centre of goal allowed him to tap home another goal, converting Timo Werner’s pass.
Son Heung-min - 6
Spurs were reportedly forced to send home Dominic Solanke before the game, with the forward feeling ill. Son replaced him as the No. 9 but aside from having a shot well saved from Bernd Leno inside 60 seconds, the club captain struggled to have a significant impact on the game. He is much better on the left.
Timo Werner - 6
Werner played an excellent pass for Johnson’s goal but was otherwise quiet. He was replaced by Dejan Kulusevski shortly after helping Spurs take the lead.
Substitutes
Dejan Kulusevski - 6
A rare appearance from the substitutes' bench saw Kulusevski replace Werner. However, he did not have much of an opportunity to bring Spurs ahead.
Archie Gray - N/A
Had little time to make an impact after replacing Sarr with five minutes to go. Postecoglou raised eyebrows by then taking the teenager off five minutes later, with Will Lankshear going on.
Lucas Bergvall - N/A
Involved in a double substitution alongside Gray, the Swedish teenager was not able to make an impact.
Will Lankshear - N/A
Lankshear replaced Gray in added-time as Spurs sought a winner against 10-man Fulham.
