Ibrahima Konate has received an outpouring of support from Liverpool stars including Virgil van Dijk after the defender disclosed his impending absence due to an injury sustained in the clash with Real Madrid.

The French centre-back, who left the pitch in noticeable discomfort on Wednesday night after a last-minute collision, gave a disheartening update on his knee condition, which Liverpool's Arne Slot suggested spelled bad news for the upcoming Manchester City game.

On Instagram, Konate expressed his frustration: "So frustrating to pick up this injury right at the end of a great game on Wednesday night. Now we start the recovery process but one thing I promise is I will come back and be the best I can be once again.

"Thank you for the amazing support at Anfield. Inshallah we will keep going and I will support the team every step of the way."

Virgil van Dijk showed solidarity with his team-mate by dropping a heart and bicep-flex emoji in response, while other team members like Conor Bradley, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz sent hearts.

Conor Bradley’s own availability remains questionable following his own exit from the Real game with hamstring issues. Slot noted it was premature for an extensive briefing concerning Bradley but confirmed Trent Alexander-Arnold's readiness for Sunday's faceoff.

Having missed the victories against Southampton and Real due to a hamstring injury before the international break, he was absent from the squad. Liverpool, on the other hand, have options like Joe Gomez and Jarrel Quansah to fill in for Konate.
