The longer the silence continues since Manchester United's two high-profile meetings at the start of the week, the more likely it is that Erik ten Hag will be in charge of next Saturday's clash against Brentford. Gary Neville has offered some fresh insight into the first of the two at Old Trafford, which he attended as part of the stadium's redevelopment Task Force.
INEOS figures, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford, co-chairman Joel Glazer and United's football leadership team were among those in attendance, with Ten Hag's future reportedly on the agenda.
However, Neville has claimed that such discussions didn't take place during the first round of talks in Manchester. He wasn't involved in the second meeting in London a day later.

Chido Obi-Martin won't be rushed
Manchester United won't rush Chido Obi-Martin into action after completing his switch from Arsenal at the end of September.
The 16-year-old striker's arrival was met with mass excitement after his prolific exploits in the Gunners' youth ranks.
But it might be a while yet before he features for United, having waited for a few months for the Premier League to ratify his transfer.
Obi-Martin is reportedly now undergoing his own pre-season schedule before taking to the pitch for United's U18s and U21s.
It's claimed that the club are treating fellow summer arrival Sekou Kone the same.
Man Utd dressing room frustrated
Erik ten Hag is reportedly frustrating the Manchester United dressing room with his constant rotation of players.
That's according to former chief scout Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade.
He told Football Insider: "I don't understand the issue with Marcus Rashford.
"In the week [against Porto], he played like the Rashford we know, running at defenders, causing all sorts of trouble and scoring a goal.
"Then he gets taken off at half-time, and you assume he's picked up an injury, but when Ten Hag was asked about it, he said it was rotation.
"It's bizarre. Very, very difficult to fathom the thinking behind that. It's not the first time it's happened either.
"I've heard there are a few frustrations in the dressing room because of these decisions and the way he's treating the players.
"The main issue with Ten Hag, for me, is trying to understand these decisions he makes. All that sort of thing [taking Rashford off at half-time] does is it just ramps up the pressure."
Wayne Rooney questions Erik ten Hag
Wayne Rooney has branded Erik ten Hag's decision to continue rotating his Manchester United centre-backs as "crazy."
The Old Trafford legend also pinpointed the widely criticised withdrawal of Marcus Rashford as a bemusing call.
"The changes he's making, you never see teams, or top teams, changing the centre-backs during the game, or the back four. I think that happens on a regular basis," Rooney told The Overlap.
"And the Rashford one was, it's the best I've seen Rashford play for a long time, against Porto, and to take him off and say, 'we've got another game at the weekend', at half-time, I think it's absolutely crazy.
"We've all played Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday, whatever it is. So, if you can't do it, then I don't know.
"You're now on the international break, I guarantee you on this international break, you'll see videos of Rashford training with a coach away from the training grounds. So you can't do two games in a week?"
Man Utd may be hit with nine absences
Manchester United could be without nine first-team players when Brentford visit Old Trafford in the Premier League next Saturday.
Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire will all be absent as they continue their road to recovery.
Noussair Mazraoui is also a serious doubt after undergoing a minor procedure on Thursday, having experienced heart palpitations.
There are question marks over Mason Mount, too, after his head injury against Tottenham ruled him out of United's following two matches.
Kobbie Mainoo, Amad and Alejandro Garnacho could also miss out, having withdrawn from international duty.
Jose Mourinho eyes reunion
Jose Mourinho is reportedly still eyeing a reunion with Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof at Fenerbahce.
According to Turkish outlet Sabah, Mourinho is eyeing Lindelof ahead of his contract expiry at the end of the season.
The 30-year-old is in the depths of Erik ten Hag's pecking order and is expected to leave as a free agent.
Mourinho brought Lindelof to Old Trafford in 2017 and is said to be working on a deal with Fenerbahce sporting director Mario Branco.
Gary Neville didn't discuss Erik ten Hag
Gary Neville has revealed that he wasn't involved in talks about Erik ten Hag's future at Manchester United during Monday's meeting at Old Trafford.
The United icon was in attendance alongside Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glazer, among other high-ranking club figures.
But Neville has stressed that he was simply there through his role in the Old Trafford Redevelopment Task Force. Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham was also present.
"I'm not on the inside of it, no I'm not. I went on Monday to meet them about the regeneration side," Neville told The Overlap.
"Not at all [did I talk about] footballing matters. Not at all. I went in with a couple of members of the regeneration task force and basically spoke about that."
