Manchester United have been dealt a fresh injury concern after Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni removed Alejandro Garnacho from his squad for the October international break. The 19-year-old won't feature for his nation over the next two weeks in potentially the latest blow during a crunch period for Erik ten Hag.
Garnacho was initially named in the squad to feature in World Cup qualifiers Venezuela and Bolivia.
However, he has joined Paulo Dybala, Nicolas Gonzalez and Marcos Acuna in dropping out due to physical problems.
Garnacho has recently been suffering from discomfort in his knee, prompting a recommendation from the United medical team that he rest and avoid taking risks.
The Red Devils No. 17 took to Instagram on Monday afternoon to confirm his withdrawal, claiming he was suffering from an issue against Porto and Aston Villa.
He wrote: "I had knee problems in the last two matches, and I won't be able to be with the national team, but I hope to recover so I can be on the next date."
United's next game falls on October 19, when Thomas Frank's Brentford visit Old Trafford in the Premier League fresh off putting five goals past Wolves.
The Bees clash marks the start of a hectic period involving seven games in 23 days up until the November international break.

After away games at Fenerbahce and West Ham United, United also host Leicester City at Old Trafford twice - in the Carabao Cup and Premier League - on either side of Chelsea and PAOK.
Garnacho faces a race for fitness ahead of the block of fixtures, with Amad waiting in the wings to take his spot on the right.
Despite carrying a knee issue, the Argentine was introduced at half-time in the 3-3 draw against Porto and started Sunday's 0-0 stalemate at Villa Park.
He has recorded more direct goal involvements than any other United player this season, finding the net four times and registering three assists in 11 appearances.
Garnacho has earned seven caps for Argentina since making his debut in June 2023 but hasn't yet established himself as a regular starter.
The teenager made an 11-minute cameo in the world champions' 3-0 victory against Chile in September.
It kickstarted their qualifying campaign for the 2026 competition in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
But he was an unused substitute as Scaloni's side fell to a 2-1 defeat to Colombia days later.
