Sean Dyche has admitted he's not had any contact with the Friedkin Group since the American company agreed a deal to takeover Everton. In his press conference ahead of another crucial game for his side at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday, Dyche was immediately pressed on the major club development.
Asked on his initial reaction to the news, the 53-year-old sounded cautious optimism.
"The reaction is obviously that there is a long way to go from what I gather of the previous situation, but the early signs look favourable," he said.
"Openly speaking, (the takeover will bring) more stability. It has been on unsettled ground for such a long time now." Asked how he felt a takeover would affect his own future, Dyche replied: “It is not really relevant. I got brought here as a custodian, to do a specific job.”
The Everton boss added he hadn't spoken to any representatives of the Friedkin Group, and said he 'wasn't sure' when talks would take place. But he hit back at suggestions the potential deal will make for a highly charged atmosphere at Goodison Park on Saturday.
He was also on coy on whether the club can now look forward to more security and cohesion off the field. "It looks like it will bring a different form of stability," he added.
"Their stability. It's their business model, I don't know the strategy I haven't spoken to them. Until I know what the strategy is, I can't really say but it looks positive at this stage from what they did at Roma."
Everton currently sit 19th in the Premier League table, with a draw at Leicester last weekend marking their first point of the season. And Dyche also turned jovial when asked how many times he's actually spoken about football since becoming manager in January 2023.

"Twice," he replied, laughing. "I've spoken twice. I just have to speak about a range of things here at Everton football club and I will keep answering your questions, and hopefully I can speak about football again soon."
He also gave a positive update on the fitness of Jarrad Branthwaite, saying his key defender was in line for selction this weekend after his injury lay-off. “He is definitely in contention, he has done a lot of background work. He is looking stronger and feeling stronger," he said.
