Liverpool have snapped up centre-back Alvin Ayman from Wolves, with the 16-year-old confirming the transfer through his social media channels. The teenager posted a picture of himself signing his Reds contract 16 hours after the summer transfer window closed on Friday evening.

Ayman made a name for himself at Wolves after joining the club from Bradford last year.

He was part of the Bradford academy from under-9s level and featured at centre-back and in midfield during his time in Yorkshire.

Liverpool reportedly secured Ayman’s signature just over a week ago after agreeing to pay Wolves £2million for his services. The versatile player is said to have put pen-to-paper on a five-year contract at Anfield, with his transfer already being approved by the Premier League.

And Ayman couldn’t contain his excitement any longer as he posted the news to Instagram before Liverpool had officially announced his arrival through their club channels.

The youngster will now be aiming to impress Liverpool chiefs as part of the Reds academy and will be desperate to be given an opportunity with the first-team in the coming years.

“New beginnings Liverpool FC,” Ayman wrote to his 2,378 followers on Instagram. “Would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff at Wolves for helping me develop over the past 2 years. God is good.”

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has overseen a quiet maiden transfer window at the Anfield helm and left it late to bring in his only two first-team summer signings.

The Dutchman agreed a £12.5m deal to bring in Italy winger Federico Chiesa from Juventus on Thursday after thrashing out a £29m transfer two days earlier for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who will move to England next summer.

And following his double signing, Slot explained: “Of course we are happy with the ones we signed because I said many times that it's difficult for us to make the team even stronger because we already have a very strong team.

“And if we then find them, of course we are very happy with that. Chiesa is someone who can help us for the short term and Mamardashvili is, I think, one of the examples where this club did in the past very good that they look also at the future, long-term future of the club and that's why we signed him.”

He then added about Chiesa: “Like I said before, if we sign someone that can help us [in] achieving our goals and improve the squad, if we then find someone, of course you're really excited that we brought him in.”
