Euro 2024 is in the rear-view mirror and the new Premier League season is less than a month away, ramping up the pressure on ambitious sides looking to recruit before the resumption of competitive action.

Manchester United and Chelsea are among those to have made a busy start to the summer transfer window, with significant incomings and outgoings at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge. Last year's primary title challengers, Arsenal and Manchester City, are also hard at work and keen to strengthen.

Plenty of other moves are in the pipeline with bags of time until the Premier League's transfer deadline on August 30. Strap yourselves in for the day ahead and follow Express Sport's live transfer updates below...

Man Utd held Ivan Toney discussions

Manchester United have internally discussed signing Ivan Toney this summer as the Brentford striker prepares to report back for pre-season training.

The Athletic claim that Toney could fetch £50million, with his price tag dropping since last year due to a long-term betting ban and the fact his contract expires next June.

The striker has openly discussed the fact he wants to test himself at a 'top club' and 'compete for trophies'.

United have already signed Joshua Zirkzee this summer and fellow forward Rasmus Hojlund is also at Old Trafford.

Torino announce Che Adams signing

Che Adams has joined Torino on a free transfer, the Italian club have confirmed.

Adams became a free agent after running down his Southampton contract, which expired on June 30.

The 28-year-old scored 16 goals in the Championship last term as the Saints won promotion back to the Premier League.

Adams ends his stint on the south coast with a record of 49 goals in 191 games.

Man City set Julian Alvarez price

Manchester City want £76million to part ways with Julian Alvarez this summer, according to The Athletic.

The Argentine is said to be growing frustrated with his peripheral role in Pep Guardiola's team, which is spearheaded by fellow striker Erling Haaland.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly made contact with City in recent weeks but there are serious doubts over whether they could meet the reigning Premier League champions' financial demands.

Alvarez scored 19 goals in all competitions last season.

Tottenham announce two exits

Tottenham have bid farewell to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as the Dane heads to Marseille on loan with an obligation to make the move permanent.

Hojbjerg racked up nearly 200 appearances for Spurs since signing from Southampton in 2020 but his game time was limited by manager Ange Postecoglou last season.

Youngster Matthew Craig has also agreed a move, to Barnsley on loan.

Craig will gain valuable experience in League One before likely rejoining the north Londoners ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Both exits were announced by Tottenham on Monday.

Chelsea get green light

Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen would be keen on a move to Chelsea, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 24-year-old's stance effectively gives Chelsea the green light to push ahead with negotiations, which have already started with the player's entourage.

The Blues are believed to be looking at four goalkeeper options including Leicester City's Mads Hermansen.

Manager Enzo Maresca already has Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, Marcus Bettinelli and Lucas Bergstrom at Stamford Bridge.

Kevin De Bruyne exit decision

Kevin De Bruyne will stay at Manchester City beyond this summer's transfer deadline despite strong links to Saudi Arabia, according to Pep Guardiola.

"Kevin isn't leaving," said the City boss following reports that De Bruyne had agreed terms with Al-Ittihad.

"If someone leaves, we are going to talk about that and, of course, until the last day [of the transfer window] we have chances," he added.

"I don’t rule out new players as an option, but I think there is an 85, 90, 95 per cent chance we will have the same squad."

Man Utd eye double Monaco deal

Manchester United are eyeing up AS Monaco pair Youssouf Fofana and Vanderson, according to Sky Sports.

Vanderson would be a direct replacement for exit-linked Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the right side of defence.

Fofana, meanwhile, would be a heavyweight signing to strengthen Erik ten Hag's midfield.

United could be left light in the middle of the park if Scott McTominay joins Fulham.

Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte is also believed to be a target for the Red Devils.
