Gareth Southgate found himself cut off mid-interview by the BBC as he spoke to media pitchside following England's 2-1 Euro 2024 final loss to Spain. Gary Lineker addressed viewers at home as Spanish celebrations rang out around the Olympiastadion suggesting that the BBC were ready to speak with Southgate following the Three Lions' crushing defeat.
The camera cut to a shot of the disheartened-looking England boss who was being asked on how he reflects on yet another European Championship final defeat. To which, the 53-year-old said: "I think we've competed to the very end of the final, I think today..."
It was at this point that the sceen briefly faded to Spain captain Alvaro Morata who was also being interviewed pitchside, before the shot quickly returned to Lineker, Rio Ferdinand, Juan Mata and Micah Richards on the gantry. Looking shocked, Lineker said: "Oh, we're in vision!" before adding: "We had a little bit of an issue."
