England limped into the knockout stages of Euro 2024 last night as they were held to a goalless draw by Slovenia in their final group game. It was another hugely disappointing performance from the Three Lions, who have failed to impress in any of their matches so far.

Gareth Southgate's men dominated possession but failed to create many real chances, with Harry Kane and Phil Foden forcing easy saves and Bukayo Saka having a goal ruled out for offside. Slovenia sat deep and defended resolutely to earn themselves a point and book their place in the knockout rounds for the very first time.

The result was still enough for England to finish as group winners on five points after winning once and drawing twice. However, it is abundantly clear that improvements will need to be made to avoid a hiding against the first decent side they come up against in the knockout stages.

England urged to appoint Harry Redknapp

Richard Keys has urged the FA to sack Gareth Southgate and replace him with Harry Redknapp before the Euro 2024 knockout stages.

Redknapp has not managed a side at any level since 2017 but Keys is convinced that he would be able to solve England's current problems.

Speaking on beIN Sports, the former Sky Sports presenter said: "Harry Redknapp is sat in Dubai tonight. Give him a call. Do you think he'd be on a plane tomorrow morning? Too right he would."

England players savaged by French press

Two England stars were given lowly ratings of 3/10 as French newspaper L'Equipe issued a damning assessement of their display against Slovenia.

Kyle Walker was singled out as one of England's 'flops', with the report stating he 'practically missed everything he did'.

Jude Bellingham was also handed a 3/10 rating while Conor Gallagher received the same treatment.

The highest rating for an England player was just 6/10, given to Jordan Pickford, Declan Rice and Harry Kane.

L'Equipe have gained a reputation for giving harsh verdicts on players but it is hard to argue with their view of England's dire display.
